The journey so far…

Just done with studies. Well sort of, IF I pass everything. And am working part time with MPH CLS. Got a new car, 1000km service due soon.

Another step in life, another transition. It will be, Monday to Friday, go to work. Weekends, sleep it off (with church somewhere in between).

As for Point-0-Nine, we just recorded our first single, “Just Fine”. You’ll probably hear it on radio in a few months. NO I WILL NOT SEND MP3s!

Was blog… travelling (is that the word?), stumbled upon a blog, controversial one (think you know which one I’m talking about. My comments about the latest post (this week), whoever follows that advice, will be in deep shit. Cause that advice shows pure rebelliousness. And that blogger, well, that person’s life is always in tatters cause of that person’s ego.

Disturbing huh?

Well not to worry, I researched this Land Over Baptist church and found out it was a parody church, portraying those over enthusiastic brainwashed misinterpreting the Bible “I hate Muslims” Christians. (come on, we all know at least one, I know I do)

For people to actually make a website to poke fun, I think it is partially true. I mean, you don’t see people parodying stuff just for fun, it has to relate to something in real life and over enthusiastic brainwashed misinterpreting the Bible “I hate Muslims” Christians is as real as the chair you’re sitting on while reading this post right now.

Ah the word I was thinking of is extremist, not over enthusiastic brainwashed misinterpreting the Bible “I hate Muslims” Christians. Extremists bothers me. They preach about love and the next second they bad mouth other religions, races, animals, cars, guitars, tables, chinese food etc…

Don’t you all think that there are different religions to cater to different cultures? Like that joke of a group of people dying and going to heaven. St Peter asked them to walk quietly pass a particular room and when asked why, he replied, “The Catholics are inside, and they think they are the only ones here”.

I know I’m enthusiastic but I’m pretty sure I’m not an over enthusiastic brainwashed misinterpreting the Bible “I hate Muslims” Christian.

Playing in church and playing outside… the approach…

Haven’t written a serious blog in a long time. And since this topic was accidentally planted into my head, so I shall go into it.

Having played in bands longer than serving as a guitarist in church, I’m pretty sure people would be thinking, “Does JT’s approach to playing for church the same as playing in a band?”

Answer is, yes and no.

Yes?

Even though I’ve played songs like Glory, For All You’ve Done and so on a billion times, I still practice them before coming to the actual practice. Same with my band, we’ve played songs like The Anthem, Hell Song and All the Small Things so many times that we can just play it without practicing. But even so, I still choose to practice the songs and hope to improve on them (not add licks or what, just playing it cleaner).

And when it comes to the actual practice, I have the same practice – no phones, no goofing off, regardless of how tired I am, whether my dog ate a cat or what, when I come for practice, I concentrate on the practice. So some of you might probably realise by now that I get annoyed when we waste time.

Before any practices, I make sure I know the songs in and out. Even if I have to replay the mp3 a million of times and figure out the song on guitar for hours, I do it.

No… ok the hard part, I think.

My purpose is different. Obviously. One is to perform, one is to lead the people into worship and also my form of worship. Some people speak to God better by praying, some by singing, some by this, some by that, I speak to God by playing the guitar. That’s why I don’t really like it when the musicians dwell on how to make a worship “epic”. For me, if God wants to move you, He WILL. I admit, I have my off days as well. Sometimes I just don’t connect, but that just shows the human side of me. How does one expect me to play well if (for example) I just lost a close friend. Yeah, people say leave it God and all, but it is always easier said than done. Only once that when I played for church, my purpose was as a tribute to my late uncle Hon Kit, who suffered from diabetes. My reason: He has always wanted to see me play for service, and everytime I play, somehow he is admitted into hospital. And he passed away the week I was to play, so since I know that he will be looking down from heaven, so why not?

Improvisation. Yup, that’s what I like about playing for church. A normal mainstream song is already like that, you can’t change it much, the solo will be the same, the riffs will be the same, the breakdowns and cuts will be the same. But in church songs, you can have like many different versions of a song. I know there has been debates (or should I say, “I’m right you’re wrong” arguments?) whether it is alright to do an instrument solo? For me, its ok, but a limit has to be set. Cause for me, if you have an electric guitarist in the worship team, and all he/she does is play chords (not even fill ins), might as well sell the guitar he/she saved up for (not forgetting pedals and cables) and get an acoustic. And as far as I’ve been listening to Hillsongs and so on, I don’t consider those guitar solos as guitar solos. For example, Hosanna (I see the King of glory…), imagine that song without that instrumental before the bridge? Yes you can say, “Just play the chords la”, then my reply will be as I said, sell that guitar and get an acoustic.

And I think I have mentioned this in an earlier blog post, it will be a waste of the hours (I’m pretty sure I’m not the only guitarist putting in 2 hours daily) put in practicing your instrument and all you do is chords.

Then the question of whether that musician is able to worship? Well for me, I am able to worship and I’ve told some of my closer counterparts, I feel empty without my guitar. Yes I know, worship can be in any form, but how many of you can admit that you can worship in any situation without having the thought that you’re trying to sound the better Christian behind your head?

Are they showing off? Hmm I don’t know, it’s like a singer who can harmonize well, harmonizing during worship. Is he/she showing off that he/she can harmonize? Or the acoustic guitarist wanting to start every song so he/she will be heard first?

I realise this topic is always brought up by certain individuals only.

Was at shitbrix.com when I stumbled upon this picture:

Well, I didn’t see anything at first so I read the comments. Everyone was screaming/typing “SLENDER MAN!!!”.

So yeah, decided to google him. By the way, Slender Man is that man standing on the left side of the picture in the background. Look at his arms.

Found out that Slender Man has been “around” for centuries.

Ok, back then there were no such thing as photographs. So artists drew, drew whatever they see or came to mind. So an artist drew a picture which shows a creature with abnormally long limbs. Like this:

And you know how people were back then, they take these as visions, probably portraying one of the devil’s henchman. Note that both the above pictures, were drawn centuries apart.

Fast forward to our era, and these pictures were captured.

The first picture looks like it was taken from a video which I couldn’t find. Second picture you can see him in the middle and the third picture, er, you can see him clearly.

Based on my understanding, after he appears in pictures, children go missing. And looking at the paintings and the pictures, could it be a sign? Muahahahahaha

Incident happened approximately two in the morning, 24th of October 2010, at the road of Taman Kosas to Bukit Indah.

After taking a left turn at the traffic light ( to Ampang Indah ), Joyce saw a metallic green car. It seem that the driver and his passengers weren't aware of the car behind, or they didn't expect ' companion ' at this hour. It was in its normal speed at first, then the driver speed up a little out of no where when he got closer to the bus stop, sooner than later, he steered his car to the left a little and here we go "BANG!" loudly, something in white flew out. Literally flew out. We were hoping for the best, and tried convincing ourselves it was something else, maybe trash or anything else but not what we think it is. The truth revealed itself, when a bunch of stray dogs in white were seen running faster than normal. It WAS a dog that were knocked out and flew out to the direction of the supposingly river ( but made into humongous drain looking since few years back ). It was more than obvious that the poor creature was knocked out on purpose. Back to the story, the driver then went back to the common driving speed, only after he realise his company at the back, he speed up a lot for no reason. ( Sounds like guilt huh? ) Anyway, we managed to catch up ( not on purpose ) because same destination we had. Unfortunate for him.

He stopped and winded down his window, had a long conversation with the guard for just an entry. Residents there doesn't wind down the window or talk to the guard normally, especially not for this long and not at this hour. I assume that he was telling the guard the car behind was following him with all his pointings, he then sped up and went into the lobby in haste. The guard let us in without asking anything with their usual polite smile, of course. When we reached the lobby, his car were seen stopping aside and letting his passengers down. Assume that it was wife and daughter. Joyce then stopped his car behind of his ( not to stalk him, or neither on purpose ). Here's the part where his nervousness and guilt were shown, he then took another two rounds exactly before he went to park his car, and looked into the car ( according to Joyce ) every time. After longer than a while, Joyce saw him gotten into lobby with his assess card. So the assumption of him living in the same block with my parents, and his car were parked outside of the guard house were made. ( Because each lot are given one or two parking lots, the visitor parking lots are outside )

After we went for our supper, we were back to my parents' ( yes we did went back on purpose this time ), I saw the stray dogs at their usual spot ( the place for pasar malam every Tuesday and Saturday ) but left only three instead of four. It was confirmed that one was killed, I've been paying attention on these white stray dogs, I know there were four of them, they were all in white and with brown and black patches.

There isn't any law to protect stray dogs being killed accidentally or even on purpose in Malaysia, what I can do is posting here and relief my sadness and disappointment on such incident. I don't find any reason or explanation of random stray dogs making you wanting to kill them other than for your leisure and fun. And I honestly doesn't find it fun to take a life away. Taking a person's life away or taking an animal's life away doesn't make any difference, you're still a murderer.

15 year old shot dead case

Every Malaysian would have probably heard about this case by now, if you hadn’t, well, stop playing your damn online games and read the news.

There’s been divided opinion on this case. Some are condemning the police for killing the 15 year old boy, and some are saying that that is part of the policemen’s job. I’m with the latter.

Why?

Read the case, it says that the police saw two persons behaving suspiciously in a car at 2am. When the police ask them to stop, they sped off. So obviously the police has to give chase, and when the kid got cornered, what he does? He tries to ram the policemen. AND if you’ve watch any real life police documentary, the police has the right to open fire at that moment, that’s what our police did. Yes, sadly it hit the kid. Come on, the police does not have the comfort of a mouse and keyboard… I’d like to see you COD pros take a shot.

The debate now is, how can the police shoot a 15 year old!? How was the policeman suppose to know it was a 15 year old driving the car? And to think of it, who would expect a 15 year old to be driving a car at 2 in the morning!?

And there has been people commenting that maybe the boy panicked and accidentally reversed at the police. MAYBE. Again, how was the policeman suppose to know that the boy panicked? He’s not playing the Sims.

My point of view, the police had the right to shoot.

And why I am annoyed by those jokers who are forming groups like, “Justice for <15 year old’s name>”? Those jokers don’t know how to read and interpret the news properly. It clearly says, “The police asked them to stop, but they sped off. He then tried to run over the police, so the police opened fire”. AND FOR GOD’S SAKE, HOW MUCH PRO GOVERNMENT CAN OUR FUCKING NEWSPAPERS BE!? Even in malaysia kini it says the same statement. The Star, Sun, Malay Mail, has the same statement.

For them jokers its, “Malaysian cop does their job… hey wait, that’s not part of the script! They are suppose to be taking bribes and not clamping down on the rempits!”

The problem with them is, the police don’t do their job, they complain, when they actually do their job, they condemn them. It’s like a kid whose parents are never pleased no matter what they do.

The only thing I can say to these jokers,

don’t run to the police if your family member gets murdered, raped, burnt, slapped, whatever shit… if not you’ll be called a bunch of ass kissing assholes.

Think most of you would have read this news.

It’s about a guy who took 11 subjects, decided to drop one of it at the very last minute.

So his results were 10A+ and a G, which is actually an F in every other school in the world.

And because of that G, he and his family is worried that he won’t be able to get a scholarship or whatever he’s trying to chase for.

The thing is this, he already has 10A+. If any colleges or universities are going to reject him just because of that G, then there’s really something wrong with the system.

It’s hard to point finger at whose at fault.

So let’s start with the boy:

The very reason why we are asked to apply for our subjects in Form 4 and confirm it by the early 2nd quarter of Form 5 is so that everything will go smoothly. It’s like registering to vote. Apply last minute, you can’t vote. And there are like thousands of students taking the same paper as you, so unless you are the son of someone important, fat chances that your application will go through.

Because of your stupid mindset of no straight A’s means your life is over. Getting straight A’s in Malaysia just shows that you have a better memory. Attended a party yesterday at Passion Road Jalan Yap Kwan Seng. There were free flow drinks. So of course everyone took advantage of it. Drink drink drink… and shit will happen.

Threats were being thrown around.

Highlight of the night was some idiot threatening everyone. He’s big, but not much to say about the size of his brain. Even innocent bystanders his threats.

He actually went up to one guy and went, “Hey you Protestant or Catholic?”. Then the guy replied, “Protestant”. And the asshole replied, “That’s cool” *shows his tattoo* “I’m an anti-Christ”. What!? The devil wouldn’t want you as an anti-Christ! Anti-Christs are smart people, like terrorists. For this guy… hmm… alcohol controls him… so yeah, can’t say much about his intelligence.

I pretty much laughed at his behaviour, going round telling everyone, “Wanna fight? You don’t know who am I!”. Hell yeah I know who you are, an ASSHOLE.

His girlfriend wasn’t much help either. At one point she was trying to stop him, the next minute she’s threatening people as well.

His cousin was telling us that he wasn’t drunk, but hey, hazy eyes, slurry speech… Only two conclusions, either he is drunk, or mentally handicapped.

18 March:

Send the Persona for check up before going to Malacca the next day. Went to Frontera’s with my mum for lunch. Prices has gone up :(

Pretty much bummed the whole day. Went for futsal at night.

Got up at 8. Left for Malacca at 9. Took about 1 and a half hours to reach Wesley Methodist Centre.

Bad photoshopping?

Spotted this at Nike Midvalley. Look at the Barcelona player (Red and blue stripes) that’s behind Rooney and the Inter Milan player (Black and blue stripes), notice the hand on his shoulder. Whose hand is that? It can’t be the player in black on his left. And it’s obvious that they cropped the teams together cause they are all looking in different directions.

Played PES2010 the whole day. Watched American Idol. Dinner! Then went to IOI Mall with my bro and mum to catch Book Of Eli. Pretty cool movie. Watch it! I love the twist at the end.

Had dessert at Tutti Frutti before the movie. Expensive!!!

Class resumes today. Got caught in the Kesas jam for about 20 minutes. Manage to reach class on time. Another “illusion” here.

Went down to the cafeteria at 1st floor. Hmm… the whole place is empty. Maybe they have moved to B1… so we headed there, and yup, it was there. Since they just opened that place, they did not have any air conditioning. AND IT WAS HOT!!!

That guy’s hand was stuffed up the sun visor. We assumed that he was those people who likes to hold the handle on the car. Few seconds later he pulled down the sun visor and was checking himself out on the mirror inside. (I thought only the passenger visor had a mirror!?) That’s not over, he even took pictures of himself…

Anyway, ate tom yam fried rice. Pretty nice but not filling enough.

Didn’t do much in the afternoon, slept.

Went for lunch with Pui Mun and my parents at Shiok Kopitiam. Ordered chicken chop and bubble tea. Watched Jackie Chan’s latest movie, “Little Big Soldier”. Nice movie, has a bit of China’s history. And Wang Leehom for the girls. One thing I like about Jackie Chan’s movies are that he always does his own stunts.

Came home and took a nap, woke up around 8.30pm and went for dinner (showered first!).

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

Since I have nothing to update much about my day, I’ll just share my thoughts on the latest Silent Hill game.

At first I was expecting another weapon swinging, gun firing Silent Hill. Even through the first half an hour I was still expecting that. And it does remind me of Resident Evil 4.

When I got to the first nightmare mode, I was like, “Shit! Did I forget to pick up a weapon before that!?”. But a tutorial screen popped up and said, “Get to the escape point as quick as possible”. Yes, the new Silent Hill has no weapons. Which I think is relevant cause the character you’re using, is not trained to use weapons unlike those of Resident Evil.

Graphics, nice. Gameplay, fun. I like how you have to really survey an object to figure out how to use it. Puzzles are not that hard.

One thing I don’t really like about this game is when you need to view the map during nightmare mode. Why? You have to whip out our handphone, which has a gps system built in. The problem is when you whip out your phone, your character walks! And you’re supposed to be running away from the monsters. Of course, if you had photographic memory, it wouldn’t be a problem.

Overall, exciting game. Would want to try it on the Nintendo Wii.

18 February:

I finally got my Relay G30 wireless system! Got it from Alex of Pitbull Inc, really nice dude, friendly and definitely down to earth despite being in the music scene. Haven’t taken photos of the Relay G30 yet though.

Was reading the newspaper and spotted an error, see if you can spot it!

Went to Simon’s house at night with the rest to play Wii.

19 February:

Went to 1 Utama with Pui Mun. Saw this really cute Chinese New Year decoration at the new wing.

Cute right!

Had lunch at Nando’s. I order the Beef Prego dish (RM29.90).

5 minutes later…

Pui Mun ordered the quarter chicken set.

Bought a new pair of socks!

Met up with my new bandmates at 11pm. Well they weren’t bandmates yet, only after meeting up with them.
